Honor Flight #3 takes three AFEV residents to "their" memorial!

Don Dwyer and Joe Griffin, residents of Teresa Village, and Bill Martin from Bob Hope Village made the one day trip to the WWII memorial in Washington, D.C on Honor Flight #3. The dedicated US Airways Airbus arrived just after 7 in the evening on April 1st to thunders of applause in the Northwest Florida Regional Airport.  Family members, Residents and Staff members of the AFEV made signs and waved flags to welcome our heroes home.

Commander's Hunt brings in funds for AFEV

(left to right) Maj. Gen. David W. Eidsaune presents AFEV President and CEO, James C. Binnicker with a check from the 2009 Commander's Deer and Hog Hunt.  This yearly event is a fundraiser for the AFEV with over 6,000 dollars donated.  Over 104 participants and 92 guests enjoyed the hunt with Jackson Guard's wildlife biologists serving as hunt guides.

AFEV Residents give back

Teresa Village residents gather once a week for a friendly game of BUNCO.  The fun took on a new twist the first of this year when instead of bringing refreshments, the group voted to bring a non-perishable food item for Social Services at the Fort Walton Beach Salvation Army.  Throwing the dice has its rewards, but the group is even more thrilled with their donations every month.

     Hawthorn House hides eggs

Hawthorn House residents hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for local children.  Cookies were enjoyed by all and the sidewalks were decorated with Easter pictures from young artists using sidewalk chalk.  Enjoying the morning (front left to right) are Hawthorn House resident, Cricket Hurley, and Bob Hope Village Deputy Director, Maranda Lambert. (on sidewalk left to right) Aliana McCabe, and her Mom and Dad, Kelsey and Andrew McCabe.  (On the grass left to right)   Doug Lambert, and his son, Derek.
